how we help

At The Brain & Body Lab, we do more than restore function – we help people rediscover choice

Every movement is a decision, and learning new movement patterns opens doors to new possibilities

It may be learning to get out of bed differently, transferring into a wheelchair independently, learning a new sport, or the refining control of a limb to improve communication, movement is the foundation for reclaiming identity

By working collaboratively with you and your support network, we focus on practical, evidence-based strategies that build confidence and independence – on your terms

A unique perspective on movement

Movement shapes how we experience life.

Before I became a physiotherapist, I trained in contemporary dance at WAPPA. But after a series of injuries I had to rethink my relationship with movement. I had to relearn patterns I once took for granted and reshape my sense of self.

That experience taught me something profound: movement is about choice. When familiar movement patterns are no longer available, we don’t just lose function – we can lose confidence, independence, and identity.

For 17 years, I’ve worked in neurological rehabilitation and community based care, helping people navigate their journey. My approach is not always about returning to a past version of movement, but discovering what’s possible now. Some people regain abilities they never imagined. Others forge a completely new path – finding different ways to engage, connect, and thrive.

The performing arts remain part of my profession. I completed a music degree, exploring how rhythm, sound, breath and movement are deeply intertwined in our nervous systems – in brain function, learning, and connection. My passion for integrating movement, music and sport into rehabilitation and capacity building shape my work today.

I’m committed to creating spaces where people find opportunities to engage in physical activity, connection, self-expression and well-being.

If you or someone you support is looking for physiotherapy that focuses on real-world outcomes, I’d love to connect!
